What We Do

  • You believe that people with lived experience belong in the policy-making process. We help you make that real by building trust with impacted communities, creating pathways for their leadership, and integrating community voice into your broader advocacy and government relations work.

  • A good advocacy campaign needs a clear theory of change, the right messengers, and a strategy that connects your community's priorities to key decisionmakers. We work with organizations as a thought partner and strategist, helping you develop your campaign roadmap, sharpen your ask, and build the architecture that sets your campaign up for success.

  • Some of the most powerful advocacy happens when people and organizations who don't usually work together decide to show up for a common goal. We've helped build coalitions spanning sectors and stakeholders, resulting in stronger and more effective movements. We can help your organization find the right partners, build real relationships, and design the structures that keep coalitions moving toward action.

  • Something special happens when the right people gather in intentional, curated spaces.

We design (and ideally co-create) convenings that put community at the center, from intimate stakeholder gatherings to large-scale national events.

  • Advocacy and community engagement are areas where most organizations know they should be doing more, but these functions often get absorbed into an already-full portfolio.

As a Fractional VP of Advocacy or Fractional VP of Community Engagement, Front Porch brings senior-level strategy and hands-on experience to a function that's ready for more. You get the depth of a seasoned leader without the overhead of a full-time hire, and your staff gets breathing room to focus on what's theirs to own.

How We Work

It's not a coincidence that "Collaborative" is in our name. Collaboration, co-creation, and partnership are at the heart of Front Porch's approach to client work, and that starts from the very first conversation.

Every engagement begins with a free 30-minute discovery call where we get to know each other and discuss where your team is and what you're trying to accomplish. From there we'll share a proposal and ensure it reflects your needs. Throughout the engagement we rely on open communication and partnership to make sure what we deliver is grounded in your reality and something your organization can actually build on.

We take on a small number of engagements at a time so we can show up fully for every client. We work best with organizations that are genuinely committed to the communities they serve and ready to build something together. Most of our engagements are ongoing retainer or fractional relationships, though we're open to project-based work when the fit is right.

We're based in the Washington, DC area and work with clients remotely across the country. We are always happy to travel when the work calls for it. We're responsive and respectful of your time — you can expect to hear from us within two business days.
